*** OAK LAKE POST RACE REPORT ***
Well folks, round #1 of the 2019 Manitoba Dirt Riders Wheat City Cycle Manitoba Cup is in the books!
We can’t thank our volunteers enough, especially our volunteer coordinator Lauraine Berard for streamlining all our volunteering and of course our race weekend sponsor Capitol Motosports for all their support and making this weekend possible!
We had an excellent turn out with 187 bikes for the Saturday fun race and 178 bikes for the Sunday points race! We battled a few injuries throughout the weekend and extend well wishes and a fast recovery for what we were told was a broken collarbone to Shane Reynolds on the #341 KTM!
We would like to thank GWB Auto Sales for supplying the water this weekend and keeping us hydrated as well as being our community meal sponsor, it was one of the best we’ve had to date!! Brent MacDonald prepared the pulled beef perfectly, there was lots of variety and more then enough food to go around for everyone including seconds thanks to everyone participating!! Keep up the fantastic work MDR community!!
We would like to make an honorable mention to Ms. Ani Ferguson on the #105 Yamaha for being the very first female to compete in our 2hr race in MDR history! Ani rode fantastic boasting a 7th place finish with her fastest lap time being in the low 27’s, she was flying out there!! Great job Ani!!
It was Val and Colin Scarfes first weekend running the scoring trailer and saying they knocked it out of the park is an understatement!! Anyone that registered to race this weekend had the pleasure of seeing them hard at work and maybe a little stressed out when scoring wasn’t cooperating lol From all of us at MDR we would like to extend a huge thank you to Colin & Val on a job well done this weekend!! We look forward to working with you guys for the rest of the 2019 season!
For all of you “debby downers” that left on Sunday night and didn’t stay for the shenanigans…you missed out on the entertainment from Quarry Ridge Racing they played the NEW Jumanji movie for the kids, had an epic bonfire and some sub-par karaoke singing from the adults haha who would have thought our very own Brent MacDonald, Richard Baril and yours truly had the voices of angels…or something like that, we aren’t quitting our day jobs haha
Congratulations to all the riders that picked up hardware this weekend! Results are now up, you can also sign up for email notification at the bottom of the results page to receive the latest results/points updates after every race! We look forward to seeing everyone at round #2 on June 8th & 9th at Miniota’s Devil Drop!

*** COMMUNITY MEAL - IMPORTANT ***
A big thanks goes out to GWB Auto Sales for stepping up and not only being our Community meal sponsor and keeping our bellies full but our water sponsor keeping us hydrated for the 2019 season as well! For all you newcomers every Saturday night we have a community potluck. Thanks to GWB Auto Sales generosity MDR can provide the main course and non-alcoholic beverages! It is VERY IMPORTANT that you bring a side dish, salad or dessert equivalent to how many people are in your party so that there is enough food for everyone to enjoy. This has been a serious issue in past seasons, and we cannot stress this enough!!! Everyone do their part so we can continue to enjoy the community meal for seasons to come!
*** VOLUNTEERS – IMPORTANT ***
Yes, we need you!!! The entire MDR organization needs you!!! Please contact our volunteer coordinator Lauraine Berard for more information, we still have lots of spots to fill for the race season! Without adequate volunteer’s safety becomes a factor and the races can’t go on, so please do your part to help your club out!!!
MDR would also like to thank Fouillard Steel for stepping up as our medic sponsor for the 2019 season and keeping us safe out there!!
